One. Latitudes and Departures (chapters 1-25)
Two. America (chapters 26-73)
Three. Last Transit (chapters 74-78)
Unlike Against the Day, the first words of a chapter or section in Mason & Dixon are not capitalized. The choice for ending a quote of a section must be, in this case, rather arbitrary (we plan however, to offer the reader the complete first phrase).
Only when the blank space between one of these quotes and the narrative is twice as much as normal, this is considered as a new section -this happens only three or four times.
The idea for this extended Table of Contents was developed by Monte Davis, who compiled the Against the Day Table of Contents.
